Challenge yourself with our fun, fast, flat, scenic, and family-friendly courses.  Whether you’re trying to qualify for Boston, looking for the perfect first marathon, or anywhere in between, the Empire State Marathon, Half Marathon and 10K is the perfect combination of New York State at peak autumn foliage, beautiful views of the east and west shores of Onondaga Lake, and a flat and fast course.

Unfortunately, due to the COVID-19 pandemic and guidance from the city of Syracuse, the 2020 Empire State Marathon, Half Marathon, and 10K have been cancelled. The races will return on Sunday, October 10, 2021. The start and finish right at NBT Bank Stadium in Syracuse, NY. The stadium address is 1 Tex Simone Drive, Syracuse, NY 13208.


  • Male – 14-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65+
  • Female – 14-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49,50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65+


  • Exclusive Podium medals will be given to the top 3 overall male and female runners in the marathon and half marathon, as well as the top 3 male and females in each age group.

Registration for the 10K, half marathon, and marathon can be found here. Note that registration is limited to only 2,000 participants and events may sell out with or without notice.

*Due to the COVID-19 pandemic and early cancellation of the 2020 event, we are able to offer refunds to those athletes who registered prior to July 3, 2020 and would prefer to NOT have their registration rolled over to 2021. If you would like to request a refund, please contact help@empirestatemarathon.com.

Refunds, transfers, or deferments of entries are not granted for any reason, including injury, pregnancy, military exercise or deployment, and family emergencies.

Note: Athletes may have the option to purchase optional registration refund insurance through a third party provider during the time of registration. Refunds through this program are only available from this provider and are subject to their policies, terms, and conditions.

Participants must be at least 14 years of age as of race day to compete.

Yes! Our marathon distance is a event is a USATF- Certified Boston Marathon Qualifier–and is known to be super fast and flat!

2021 courses will be announced at a later date, but we anticipate similar routes as in 2019.
